You are all addicted...

This Thursday I went to the Beckman Institute for a meeting. Wow! The Beckman is incredible. Everything beyond DCL is really nice, in fact. There's this nice patch of grass where you can lay about (it was a nice day, so I was tempted). There is also an interesting fountain and then the entry way into the institute is really nice too. Off to the side there is even a large gate. The inside was just as wonderful. I went to the fifth floor which is reminiscent of the geometry center offices (at its older location).

So at this meeting I found out what my new job entails. By next week I'll officially work for the college of education for the Chickscope Project. I'll be working on the pages that the teachers use (I don't have a URL for you now). Trying to make it visually appealing like the Chickscope's main pages.

According to KQRS, some kid at Hopkins North Junior High (my former junior high school) brought a gun to school. That's pretty freaky. They say they are going to expel him for a year, but I wonder what he's going to do in that year.

Orbital and Underworld remixes of DM are pretty darn good. Of course, it helps that all three bands are really good to begin with.

No thanks to Molly, here's a link to a page about pants and Star Wars.

Blood... blood... blodd... Blodd?

Well the other day my roommate was talking in his sleep... in English. He said "hey Josh" a couple times. It was pretty funny. Maybe he thought he could get in a game of Tekken or something.

Jack always thinks that if the volume is at 15 that I can function as if it wasn't on. That's flawed reasoning. He uses 15 because I guess once I was typing up something at that level. Well whatever, I don't think he understands that the other component of the "I hate TV" equation is that his TV has this high pitched noise to it. A lot of old or cheap TVs have this sound to it. It's somewhat irritating. That's why I like computer monitors. They don't emit such an awful sound.

I had this terrible headache that cut my productivity down a good deal. So I was listening to Selected Ambient Works vol. 2 which was remarkably soothing. So yeah, go buy it next time you have a headache.

My friend Karl has pointed out that I don't go to Matt's Script Archive? I used to go there a few years ago to use scripts like the BBS we had on mightycow.com a long time ago. I read the page about Matt Wright a while back, maybe last year or the year before. I thought nothing of it. But if you read the page you'll realize he goes to the U of I. I found this out when Anand told me, "Matt Wright is awesome at Perl." "Who's that? Wait, is that Matt's Script Archive Matt?" "Yeah, also the Matt who lives on our floor." So yeah, next time you go to Matt's Script Archive, remember, I know this guy. He's also Jawed's roommate. Two computer geniuses in one room...

Springfield is famous for its Lincoln stuff and its strip club.

I want to video myself sleeping. If I get the camera working I will. Because, I see jack tossing and turning and I wonder if I do that. I imagine I do. I wish I could sleep perfectly facing straight up with a smile on my face. Well no, not a smile. If I was smiling, Molly would somehow find a way to get a picture of me.

A lot of second generation Indians are really stuck up snobs. Like they aren't nice in the least. On the other hand others are really nice, sometimes too nice. There's no real correlation of why some are nice and some aren't. So anyway, to all you Indian snobs, "I hope you die and go to hell."

Anand down the hall is working on a car MP3 player. It's going to be superb. I get to help him with some of the Linux and programming. Right now we have a motherboard witha Cyrix MII and everything is integrated on the board, which makes it very easy, it'll be really slim.

College has humbled me. I used to think that I wanted to have lots of money, but that's not exactly the case. I just want power now. I want enough stuff that makes me content. I want the ability to do any of my interests. None of these things require that much money. I also want power though.

I woke when Molly slept, but then I fell asleep for an hour/hour-and-a-half. I miss Molly. I could so kick her ass at Dr. Mario.

I'm watching Hackers. I love it. They are playing Orbital's Halcyon and on and on. That's such a beautiful song. All the other music has me wishing it was on MP3 or CD... time to go search. This is on the wishlist now. Wait, wow... this movie sucks.

Check it out now... the funk soul brother...

I remember several years ago during my first year of Hindu Camp my friend whom I met at camp, Shaan, and I were talking about how cool it would be to be able to bring up a song about any given topic. We were pretty damn close. I still do that.

Speaking of songs, here are some songs that have been running in my head: Touched by VAST, The Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim, Wipeout from Orbital? Anybody know what Wipeout XL is? Email/ICQ me.

Yesterday I bought a new chair. It's real nice, pneumatic, comfortable (but not so much that you fall asleep). So yeah, it looks like it's out of Star Trek, I think...

I had breakfast today... we have good Grapefruit. It wasn't bitter. I failed at eating breakfast with Caroline, but I did get to walk her down and make a request to have my beds bunked. Yes, that's what we have to do at our school... blech. Request to bunk or debunk your bed. Grr! Supposedly it's free right now.

I figured out that there are three things I wish I'd have learned to play. One is the piano. If I could play that, I could play a keyboard or at least have a decent clue about how. I'd also have liked to learn how to play the drums. I mean that'd just be fun. Then I could play a drum machine. The other instrument is the violin. I think violins sound cool.

Anybody know why most switches go Off-High-Med-Low rather than Off-Low-Med-High? I should ask Marc, the EE major.

A monster may not enter the city limits.

Look at Urbana's dumb laws.

lyrics.ch was closed recently. The servers were seized by the Switzerland police. :(

It's spring in Urbana. It's nice and warm especially in the dorms. It's really foggy outside. Like you can barely see Foelinger from the Union. Very cool.

"This might be the only time in your life where you get to see a bowling ball come at you that's not going to actually hit you." -phys prof.

I need to stop hitting ctrl-x-s to save my word documents and I've got to stop highlighting things to be copied. Damn you Linux.

People wanted me to stop doing this page, because I'm supposedly better in real life... but not all my fans get to see me in real life.

Can this be home...

Most of this was composed yesterday on the way back to Urbana.

Kudos for Maximum PC for using "Let's Play Master and Servant" as a title for a letter in their commport section of this January's issue.

4:18 PM ET: Remember the girl who lives in Allen that looks like a clown with pink hair and overdone makeup (the one whom I should one day ask "Why?!?")? LKooks like she is on my flight to CMI... WHY?!?! And WTH is with my plane. It's almost an hour late.

4:50 PM ET: Flight is being boarded. If I was willing to wait 2 hours for the next flight I'd have gotten $600 (Note: I'm still regretting this indecision). That's a lot, but I don't know. This flight was way overbooked, but the row in front of me is empty. I could've done the $600, but it wouldn't have been kind to Eric. Then again, it's $600. I'm not even worth $600. $600 is a ride home back and then some. Perhaps in the spring I will take advatage of Northwest's silly service.

4:31 PM CT Well no $600 [for me]. Remember the three seats in front of me that were empty? I took two of them. I'm also fully able to operate the sixth rows emergency doors. I also think I'm more useful than nobody opening the doors.

These SAABs are nice (especially if you have 2 seats). Nice leather seats. When you go up you feel like you are in a wimpy roller coaster. You also feel like life insurance is a good thing.

"Can my grandmother die twice in a semester?"

Well my luggage managed to not come off my plane with me. Eric and Travis picked me up and we went to get Karl. Along the way they explained what a dumb decision I made by not jumping at the $400-$600 bump. We got Karl and Jawed from the Amtrak station and then went to Allen Hall.

I got everything setup in my room just like it used to be, said hello to the gang, got Pokey sticks etc. I also managed to not get in touch with my luggage because they called and left a message on my phone when I was out. So I got it this morning.

Classes seem nice so far. My CS 173 professor is promising. He supplied the above question. Physics Lab seems okay, if not way beneath my level. Philosophy was too tiring so I slept. They'll try to prevent me from doing that I bet. And my final class is from 4 to 6 tonight (Java Lab). I don't like that. Oh well, I have to deal with it. I also have to deal with very expensive books.

My roommate looks stupider than ever with Silver hair, etc. I still dislike him for the pre-Thanksgiving reasons (Street Fighter, stupid stupid China man, etc).

Caroline has been using this page to e-stalk me... I suppose that's what it's for.

Halcyon and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on

Apparently Molly saw Can't Hardly Wait twice. That's very odd.

Marc says I need to pull my grades up, so I will attempt that this semester. I'll need to practice (almost spelled it practis) cliches like "study smarter, not harder."

I've got one friend that sends me all these forwards. Some of them are okay, some of them are downright annoying. My biggest complaint is all that crap that has nothing to do with the message, like the email addresses that it was sent to and stuff. I wish people would delete all the things that said "so and so wrote on this date..." and who previous people sent the message too. It's less stuff to scroll through.

Hey, the impeachment trial is on the cover of CBC's news page. America rocks, we're so important that our impeachment trial is the main thing on the CBC's page. We rock.

Lucent bought Ascend. I knew someone who worked for Ascend. I know people who work for Lucent. I know people who have Lucent phones. Look at me, I'm so cool, I know all these people. I've got phones!

Today I went to eat at some Greek/Mediterranean restaurant on 394. The food wasn't all too bad, not exactly a college student type restaurant. I had something that had spinach. Now all I smell is spinach.
