More South Park

Wow, Tom Bernard from KQRS did not like the South Park movie, even though he liked the show.

I decided that I don't mind that the TV shows are going to be far less cool than the movie. Because if you think about it, most movies that have been made into shows suck. There are a few notable exceptions, like Batman (although it's based off the comics too). Same goes for Superman.

Baby Dave...

Actually I went to a grad party of a close family friend, Leena, and there was a picture of Leena, someone else, and I in strollers when we were wee-little babies. Very amusing.

I also got to see a lot of cool people that I haven't seen in a while, like Sunita. I hate seeing people who I haven't seen in a long time for only an hour or so and then not seeing them for a long time. I wish I could teleport.

Tonight I came back and got a surprise call from Caroline. This was pleasant. I explained to her the simplicity of cooking Macaroni and Cheese, as I cooked up some of Annie's pasta.

Then Katie and Dan came over and we watch Kolyo. A cute movie that takes place in Chekoslovakia before it quit the whole Communism shindig. A very intriguing film.

I find that I can actually stand to watch foreign movies if I am in a small group of people. Anything more than three or four and then I can't focus.

Confusion

I think New Order's Confusion (the remix on the Blade soundtrack) is my new theme song. I think I'll need to actually purchase this CD, just so I can play it wherever I happen to be. I mean really, next year, I'm going to be a net tech... I'll need to work on people's computers... and listen to my theme song. I mean... it's my theme song... that's what you do... you listen.

My school...

My school produces such upstanding members of society. Like this.

By the way, I'm aware that it's a bit difficult to log in, I'm going to work on that when I get back to school.

Fun with mathematics!

Ryan sent me this problem yesterday and when I first looked at it, I was going about it the wrong way and got bored and stopped doing it. Today I looked at it again and figured it out very quickly. The problem is as follows:

Grandma sent Johnny some money for his birthday. Johnny spent all of it in five stores. In each store, he spent $1.00 more than half of what he had when he came in. How much money did he get from grandma?
What I first did was a poor method of trying to solve the problem. I tried doing it forwards. In other words, I assumed Johnny had x at store 1 and he spent x/2 - 1 at the first store and x - (x/2 - 1) at the second store and so on.

Solution: Don't read this if you want to figure it out on your own. The easier way to figure it out seemed to be this figure out how much money he is left with at each store starting from store 5. At store 5 he has no money. Therefore we know that if he entered the store with x ammount of money then x - (1 + x/2) = 0 and therefore x = 2. x = 2 is the ammount of money has when leaving store number four so we can do the same method to figure out that he came in with y dollars, where y - (1 + y/2) = 2. We repeat this process until we figure out how much money he had to have at store 1 (which is how much his grandmother gave him). I got $62.

This problem may seem trivial, especially to those of you who are mathematically inclined. I just thought I'd share it with people since it is a good problem solving question.

Fourth of July Weekend

This weekend was not too bad. We had Convergence, the brand new science fiction convention, and it went well. I think with a little more work and participation it will turn out to be a great thing. Adam said he was going to do a write up of the con, so that may be on his web site.

Saturday night, we (Molly, Adam and I) went to see comedy groups known as Soylent Theatre (who also performed at Minicon), the Impossibles (featuring the one and only Doug!) and another group Opera something... anyway they were good. I know soon I'll get an email from Doug saying I screwed something up in this entry.

I also went to Lake Minnetonka for fireworks. It wasn't worth it. The fireworks were not impressive in the very least.

The weekend was good... now to work on a calendar for the site.

Mail

I'm running a new mail forwarding software. It's awesome. It is a lot easier to make mail forwards now. Additionally it produces a log that lists whether mail gets delivered or not. That is very handy. With the other software only Jesus could assure proper delivery.

The Man Show

I have got to apologize to Tom for not recording the Man Show, I was too lazy. For all of you out there that are men, watch that show... that show is really absurd and funny. The girls jumping on trampolines are nice too. (Note: Molly used to jump on trampolines.)
