If there was one toy I could have this year... it would be this.
Read full postWe (some friends) went to the Hopkins Raspberry festival. That was a lot of fun, even though the parade went on a little long. After that we went to the Romportl's family get-together where we ate and babysat... it was fun. Even Dan said so. If Dan says it's fun, then it's fun.
Later this night we went to see American Pie, which was very amusing (although I for one liked South Park more). Then we went to Perkins and later loitered around the theater's parking lot.
Well... this summer I've surprised myself... Star Wars and Austin Powers were not the only movies I saw at theaters.
Read full postToday we (me, my friends, my cousin, my brother and sis-in-law) went to see Shakesphere in the Park's performance of the Tempest at Highland Park in St. Paul. It was well done. My brother made very good food and we also had the aforementioned brownies.
Tonight at my house devolved into complete silliness, but others called it scandalous. It's amazing what silly-fun can be had with sleeping bags.
I wish I was still a child. Of course, the other day I said I wished I was a rocker.
Read full postSo I guess after coming back to Minnesota I've had an epiphany. I think it started when I talked to my friend Hayley. I'm transitioning from the typical 'computer geek' to 'just a guy' who has sufficient knowledge in computers.
I have this serious problem that there are people (myself included) that can go on for hours and hours about pidly details on computers. For example. Bandwidth transfer rates. This may not make any sense to most people, but there are those computer geeks (again myself included) who could talk about this for hours. "ADSL is faster than Cable modems because Cable modems are shared bandwidth among many residents and thus the bandwidth goes down." Add in a few technical details like the Megabits per second transfer rate and you have a technobabble.
Well what first hit me is I noticed Hayley, without a computer or even an email account lives a perfectly normal enjoyable life. A lot of computer geeks waste time in front of a computer. I mean, I admit that when I have absolutely nothing to do (or want to do) going to pricewatch.com and try to put together a pretty fly computer system. But why? It's not like I'm going to buy it. That'd be a different story all together.
What's worse is people talking about computers. I started backing away from this after Mac vs. PC wars annoyed me. I mean really, there's no point in arguing. You aren't going to win over anybody to the Mac or PC camp if they are arguing with you.
This summer I've started to get annoyed with all computer-babble. Really it's pointless. It's one thing if somebody asks me what type of computer they should get. It's another thing when somebody just goes on and on about something like... oh bandwidth I guess. I mean it's one thing if it's in the right setting. Like a meeting of people who deal with bandwidth or in ICQ where you can talk about anything.
I'm not telling people to adopt my views though. This is just what I think. I just don't feel like talking about computers. I'm more interested in non-computer serious discussions.
So yeah... I'm just trying to be a guy who knows a bit about computers... that's it. I'm still a geek in other respects though. Ah... now I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for this.
Read full postI say a sun that would generate lightning would instill more fear into the godless society that walks about this planet than our current sun. I propose we elect a new, stronger more powerful sun that can raise mankind out of its bureaucracy.
Read full postWell almost a death kitchen. Katie, Anna, Walt and I built some turtle brownies with help from Molly. Quite fun. They look very scary. And DeathKitcheny... but not a real DeathKitchen with no Tom... tom has a web site... but I won't link to it... not today.
Read full postSometimes I think I want to be a rock star. The really athletic types that just run and jump around on the stage all the time. Then I realized I just want to be the guy who isn't a rock star and just listens to rock music and runs around and jumps to it. I'm listening to some music from the Crow and well it does just that...
Hey geeks! How's it going?
