If you are a regent, a president, a benefactor or a great professor (although I'm not sure if honor is bestowed upon great professors) and your name is Hall, does the university make a Hall Hall? In the main library at the University of Illinois there is an exhibition display (that happens to be empty) which was given as a commemoration to a few members of the Biology and Chemistry department. Among them was someone named Hall (Vincent Hall if I'm not mistaken, but I'm too lazy to go back out and check. It'd be funny if it was Vincent Hall, because that is the hall at the University of Minnesota where I was trained in mathematics). What if this person, Professor Hall gave the University a huge crap load of money? Like enough to build a hall. Do they call it Hall Hall?
Read full postSo I was searching for more songs by Apocalyptica and found one called From out of Nowhere and sure enough it was the Faith No More song instrumentalized. It is pretty damn good.
Read full postIt's been a while since I've listened to Metallica with enthusiasm. However, I've stumbled upon this stash of Apocalyptica mp3s which are tremendous. Although, what I feel is even better in many ways is the new 2-CD set from Metallica called S & M. It's a variety of Metallica songs performed with by Metallica and the San Francisco Symphony. I guess Metallica is on tour with several different symphonies. That's a show I'd like to catch.
Read full postYesterday was the Allen Late Nighter... it was moderately fun. Their was pizza and pokey sticks, which I was greatful for.
The earth is burning... but it makes for a pleasant December. As summer rolls around your memory will be refreshed. The earth will scorch itself and we will have to deal with it. God forbid we get the industries who plunged us into this mess to stop. How else will we get mass-produced trinkets?
Read full postSo here's the update on the hunt for a home. My robot (Adam Nagao) and I have expanded our search to include homes. Homes are less easy to find, but we're finding things here and there. We have recruited my friend Michelle Lohmann as Roommate #3. We may end up stopping at that number (originally we were hunting for about 4). I think Sunday may be the house hunting day.

I've decided that I do not wish to be an RA anymore. My reasons are lengthy, and you can ask me in person, and I'll tell you, but it just isn't the box I want around my life.
I've noticed something over the year that is finally beginning to set into me permanently. It is good policy to not injure people's feelings. I remember I used to tease people to the point of being mean. Teasing's okay within a certain level, but after a while things start sinking in. If you joke around with someone and tell him or her that they are an idiot, it's only so long until they start questioning themselves as to whether or not they are an idiot. Being a jerk or just plain mean doesn't help. It makes things worse.
On the flip side, I guess, you just can't let things get to you. When someone tells you in a destructive manner that you are faulty it is somewhat difficult to just let it slide. Put forth the effort to deal with things propperly and it will pay off.
Read full postThe last few days have been fun-packed. Thursday was Thanksgiving. My brother made very good food. Unfortunately I started feeling sick due to antibiotics and only ate some really good soup he had made for Thanksgiving. We went to see the James Bond movie, which was entertaining. Denise Richards, although a very beautiful actor, cannot act... at all.
Friday was an evening of festivities at my house. I put very little effort into it (I just provided a house and food... actually my parents did that), but people seemed to enjoy them selves which is what matters.
Yesterday I went to the house of a friend of the family. Then I went to see Toy Story 2, which was very amusing (more amusing than I imagined it would be).
Today I go back to the flat land of Illinois with all the gadgets I've collected. (I bought a new CD player yesterday that is wicked cool.) I'll be rushing through the last two weeks of classes and trying my hardest to score well during my week of finals.
Read full postI saw Being John Malkovich yesterday. I must say, that movie is very good. Just like most of the movies I've seen this fall. This movie is definitely worth seeing (even with Minnesota's over-inflated $7.50 ticket price).
