pain

So the silicon implant that was in my eye was fully removed today. Let me tell you that with no sedatives that was one of the most painful experiences I've had recently. They just cut me open until they found the damn thing. My god did that hurt. Hopefully I'll heal up all the way... I just need to schedule a round of doctor appointments in Urbana.

Go offline

I just read this article about some guy who spent five days "living" soley on the internet. That is about the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I don't understand what point they are trying to prove? Just because people are doing more and more things on the internet doesn't mean we will eventually live out our existance on the internet. There will always (I might be wrong) people who will want to be offline, or do things other than surf the net and check email. Who on earth can confine themselves to a little box like a computer? I shouldn't ask, I know there are people who do that with television. I know that a lot of people waste time on the net, but seriously... people eventually get tired of sloth and do stuff. If not, they die. Natural selection kills off the lazy.

The future I intend to create and perpetuate as a computer scientist and as a person with ideas is one where machines evolve around people rather than people evolving around machines. People should enjoy life. Life is not in that box that sits in front of you. Life is outside the box. People shouldn't order pizza online while they work in their home-office at 3:00 AM typing up reports, checking email or coding all night. People should be ordering gyros from the local greek restaurant on their cellphones at 11:00 am while they rollerblade to work. If they need to check their email, it will be read to them through a device in their ear in the natural language of their choice. They can talk to real people at the while they eat their gyro outside on the restaurant's porch. When they finished eating their food, they can take off their blades and walk to work all the while working off the calories they just injested.

Stupid Americans... evolve.

A new toy...

Well I'm back home, and I'm doing homework... It's slightly different than school. For example. Instead of friends like Erin, Adam, Scott, Julie and the RA (Angie) who live right by me, I've got parents... who live right by me. I've also got friends who live far. Which do me no good since I have no car. I have a lot less distractions though. I mean, there isn't much else I can do here besides watch movies, hang out with my friends and design robots, but do my homework.

I do however have a new toy. Today my first ebay toy came in the mail. It's a walkie talkie (Motorola Talkabout... much fun, everyone go buy one). It's useless until I go back to school where scott has two. It might even work with Adam's gizmo... I see fun happening.

I also got a new VCR today. It goes upstairs and the older VCR (which is fairly new) goes to the basement. No more watching movies through the Video Camera. I'd have got a DVD player, but I'm waiting for the price to fall slightly on the multi-tray units.

Buy stuff, people. It'll make you happier. Unless you are depressed - then there is no hope.

The real Dave Dash...

This is the real Dave Dash. Packing up to go home tomorrow. It's tricky, because I'm packing very little that I won't just leave behind. Most of it is stuff that I don't want anymore like clothing, etc. I've begun the apartment search, although it seems a bit late in the game, I think my friend Adam, and I will find a decent four bedroom apartment that will suffice.

Tomorrow I leave here at about 7 in the morning. I should be home in the afternoon. Email me before I leave if you want something more specific.

Vertical Plains

Saw Adam yesterday while he was here for College Bowl.

Last night I went wall climbing at Vertical Plains. That was a lot of fun. I think over Thanksgiving Break I'll try to plan a small wall climbing trip if enough people are interested (it'll be either Friday morning or Saturday).

Dogma

Dogma was a good movie. That's to say, I liked it. It's what I expected from Kevin Smith and ViewAskew. Erin liked it too, and she can be picky. I'm not saying that everyone should rush to go see this, but if you watch movies that I like, then go for it.

Fish Taco

Today at dinner Cap'n Angie and I were serving up some Fish Tacos. The people to whom we gave tacos didn't seem to enjoy this new creation. Come on! Fish taco! FT! It's gotta be good. It's G-r-r-reat!

Spyborgs

Let's hear it for spyborgs. I combined two of my favorite topics, spying and cyborgs, into one. I'm going to create a small army of people who have all sorts of bionic instrumentation and they can perform reconnaissance missions. Like one spyborg would be this person with video transmission built into her/his head so s/he could transmit data.

Living at the DCL for a time.

Erin

Erin called me a pervert. I'm not a pervert. Aside from that, Erin, have a nice day today.

Scott is not here this week. I miss Scott. Nobody to talk to... over the wireless. Nobody with whom to hang out at Hall Council.

Brendon will never make it as a nomad. He will die in the desert.

This entry was about three people - Erin, Scott and Brendon. Therefore it is brought to you by the letters E, S, B and 3. 3 is E. Erin is mine.
