Insha'allah the worst of this horrific tragedy is over, but let us not make it worse. Let us not jump to conclusions. Its so easy to blame Arabs, Muslims or the Palestinians (these groups overlap to be clear). After all what have movies such as Siege taught us? Lets try to seperate Hollywood from reality. The sadness here is that already people have made this jump to conclusions - they have made death threats to arbritary Muslim and Arabs (who I might note many of which are upstanding American citizens). This is absurd.
Read full postIt seems all we can do now is watch, wait and maybe pray. This attack of the world trade center was disgusting. I hope that only those responsible will be punished and not, as the US so often does, an entire peoples. Peace out.
Read full postSo yesterday I went to Oyster Fest... that was fun, I guess. Too many people with too much alcohol that were too angry wanting to move from one position to another. Anyway they had Alien Ant Farm and Cake, both who were pretty good, but ... I've been to better outdoor concerts.
Anyway, I spilled water on my keyboard twice, and well... the second time pretty much nixed any usability left in my keyboard... sadly Best Buy opened at 11, and low and behold did not have what I was looking for. So I'm at the Woodfield Mall (a decent mall in Schaumburg) lookng around. I'm now at an Apple store. It's not too bad. The computers are all nice and colored in that ice coloring scheme Apple loves. I like it too. Too bad there is just a few things that apple does that makes me not want to get one. Like worshipping donkeys.... just kidding. I don't know if they worship donkeys.
Read full postLabor Day weekend. Not entirely eventful. My mom, however, will be getting an almost new Volvo S80. A wonderful vehicle with amazingly comfortable seats. I can't wait to come back to MN. My brother is removing the shingles from the side of his house and replacing it with stucco. It should look nice when I get back. Funny... all these cool things just begin when I get back... oh well.
I'm actually looking forward to work today. I should stop typing this and go:)
Read full postTanya said that I've been spoiled with Dan, Katie, Ryan and her visiting me a week ago, and now this past weekend, my visiting Minnesota. My family was gone to California for another wedding, so I took over my brother's house for the weekend. Stayed up late nights with old friends like Marc, Ryan, Tanya, SMatt, Ryan and Katie and new friends like Divya from school (who remarkably fits snuggly into the circle of friends in MN) and Marc's friend Erin who I went to school with from 5th-7th grade.
Read full postI always thought if I became head of a large corporation, I'd do antics like this. So, yeah, maybe I'll do things like that if I became a leader of a country too. I get to go home tongiht. Yay!
In other news... I think Israel is acting in an illogical fashion (not unlike this country, the United States of America). Bombing "extremists" and anybody that happens to be near them is not a suitable approach for whatever ends they desire. This is only going to fuel the much justified Palestinian rage. Then again what is so extreme about standing up against oppression? Most religions mandate some type of standing up in the name of Justice. Hinduism has the concept of dharma - duty. It's often hard to tell what our duty is, but it is always the righteous path of justice. In al-qur'an it is said that death is better than living under oppression. So all of a sudden Israel's condemned the Palestinians for standing up for their right to survive - unoppressed. Not terrorists, but people who just want to live. It is a shame when good people are driven to nasty things such as suicide bombing. It doesn't need to be that way, and Israel is the one doing the driiving. Peace.
Read full postSo I sent an email to His Excellency, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, before the elections this year saying that I hope his is victorious. President Khatemi is struggling to give Iran a government that serves the people. Unfortunately it is quite a struggle which is being met with a lot of gridlock.
