I've decided to be very picky. I want a job where vacations are not an escape from the monotony of work, but as a seperate event.
Read full postRead this. I think we should all boycot Starbucks for any of our injustices. I can't wait until next year, when we have the Palestinian rights rallies and boycott Starbucks until they help us force Israel to deal with real issues.
Read full postFor those of you who normally only listen to my political rants, bear with me. This is a rant about coding. Anyway, you never quite realize the importance of coding style until you actually are handed someone elses code. Programming is not that hard, except for the complex lexicon it uses. So here's a tip of the day for people who code things. Name everything, methods, classes, variables in a very descriptive manner. This will make it easier for yourself if the code happens to grow, and anybody else who might have to look at the code. Hmm... maybe I can't work as a programmer.

Read full postDespite the seemingly arbitrary killing of 168 people in the Oklahoma bombing, I still find something disconcerting with the execution of McVeigh (profile). I think not enough is focussed on his reasons for the bombing. What McVeigh did was unacceptable and is an inappropriate way to deal with the government, but their was a definite criticism of the US Government that I think should be heard.
McVeigh seemed to be more interested (what I gather from the media) about gun control, and militia-rights. I just want to know what he was observing. So I view this whole bombing as a means to silence McVeigh and possibly as some gross form of... revenge that the government is enacting on behalf of the victims' families.
Read full postSuburbs totally cater to consumption. Well this one, especially. It's like a giant Mall and its inhabitants are mall rats. This Mall of a township/village lures you to consume. Giant attractive stores and restaurants are begging you to try something. No, Borders, I do not want to buy any NY Times best sellers at thirty percent off. I'd rather eat rancid tuna.
Read full postSo, I decided I'd look at the message oards at yahoo.com. What a bunch of crap. I've decided that everybody wants to pick apart (in a destructive sense) everyone elses ideas, creeds, religions, beliefs, and interpret things for each other. So out with those message boards. If I want to discuss religion, I've got friends with whom to discuss religion. If I need spiritual guidance, I've got God.
Suzy and Adam stopped by this Friday. That was a pleasant and enjoyable encounter. I hope to run into others this summer too.

So last weekend I went to my wonderful home of Minnesota. I always wondered about people who chose to live in a certain locale. I mean, for me, I could live anywhere in the world... or so I thought. Then I went to see my brother's newest property in Uptown (Mpls). Wow! I think I know where I want to live. Obviously my brother and sister-in-law do as well. It's such a wonderful part of city, and nothings too far from anything. I seriously may consider living out there for some time. [I can rollerblade all through Uptown!!!]
Not much happening here in Schaumburg at Motorola Labs. Life is starting to get routine. Luckily there are good friends who may (insha'allah) visit as well as good books abound.
So if anybody wants to help me get a drivers license, let me know :) Normally I wouldn't care, but that's because I'm normally at school. Living in this hellhole of suburbia (in a nice apartment, but...) does not work for the carless much more the license-less.
Read full postSo, I've been in Schaumburg, IL for the last week, and I'll be here until December, I believe. If you are ever in the Chicago area, contact me. Anyway, I'm working for Motorola Labs in the Applications Research division. It's a lot of fun. Hopefully it'll continue to be fun.
I got to see some friends yesterday (Ahmed &c.) and we went to the DePaul MESA conference on Human Rights in the Middle East. It was very informative, and as always... well sad. Palestine or rather the Palestinians are in a sad shape, but I've made that clear several times.
